Parliamentary leaders of Burundi, Tonga arrive in Azerbaijan for COP29 events
Two international parliamentary leaders have arrived in Azerbaijan to attend the events on the margins of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, currently taking place in Baku.
Fabrice Nkurunziza, Deputy Speaker of the Senate of Burundi, arrived in Azerbaijan to participate in a parliamentary meeting organized jointly by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan. His visit is part of a broader agenda during COP29, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
At Heydar Aliyev International Airport, Nkurunziza was welcomed by Elshan Musayev, Head of the Milli Majlis Working Group for the Azerbaijani-Burundi Interparliamentary Relations, along with other officials.
Fatafehi Fakafānua, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga, arrived in Azerbaijan on November 14 to participate in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
At Heydar Aliyev International Airport, Fatafehi Fakafānua was welcomed by Milli Majlis MPs Shahin Ismayilov, Mirjalil Gasimli, along with other officials.
On November 16-17, Baku will host a Parliamentary Meeting as part of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Co-organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, the event will welcome 92 delegations from 66 countries and international organizations, totalling around 330 participants, including 167 parliamentarians, with 12 speakers and deputy speakers.
