Haber Global highlights Türkiye’s climate action agenda at COP29
Turkish broadcaster Haber Global is providing comprehensive coverage of Türkiye’s climate action initiatives and significant developments related to global environmental issues at the COP29 conference in Baku.
Special emphasis is placed on statements underscoring the importance of decisive measures, innovative installations, and high-level discussions, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Türkiye’s Minister of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change, Murat Kurum, outlined the nation’s climate strategy at the Olympic Stadium, the venue for the conference.
Haber Global highlights that Türkiye’s climate roadmap includes ambitious targets for reducing emissions and advancing eco-friendly technologies. Commenting on the minister’s address, Bünyamin Sürmeli, the broadcaster’s meteorology editor, noted that the commitment to emission reductions in the cement industry attracted significant attention.
“Cement is one of the primary sources of emissions, and Türkiye is prepared to take responsibility for change in this sector,” Sürmeli remarked.
Another event that drew public interest and received extensive media coverage was an installation on the Caspian Sea shore in Baku. Haber Global reported on a striking exhibit featuring a lifelike model of a dead whale washed ashore, symbolising the impact of climate change on marine life. This installation was organised by the Belgian environmental group Captain Boomer Collective.
In an interview with Haber Global at COP29, Minister Murat Kurum reiterated the crucial role of developed nations in funding efforts to combat the climate crisis. Kurum stated that Türkiye is ready to shoulder part of the global responsibility and implement local initiatives focused on water resource management, agricultural policy, and optimising industrial processes.
Haber Global’s reports from COP29 underscore that Türkiye is committed to sustainable development and is actively calling on the international community to take measures that can address the environmental challenges on a global scale.
