Naval commanders of Azerbaijan, Pakistan convene to boost military cooperation PHOTO/VIDEO

The Azerbaijani capital hosted a meeting between the Commander of the Azerbaijan Navy, First Grade Captain Shahin Mammadov, and Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff of Pakistan.

The official visit commenced with a formal welcoming ceremony, during which both naval chiefs reviewed a guard of honor. The national anthems of Azerbaijan and Pakistan were performed, underscoring the spirit of mutual respect and bilateral partnership, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan.

As a mark of reverence, the Pakistani delegation paid tribute to Azerbaijan’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev by laying flowers at his monument situated within the grounds of the Azerbaijani naval military unit.

During the discussions, the sides engaged in a comprehensive exchange of views focused on enhancing bilateral naval cooperation. Emphasis was placed on the importance of sharing operational experience among warship crews to strengthen maritime capabilities. A broad range of issues pertinent to joint development and strategic collaboration were also addressed.

Following the high-level meeting, the Pakistani delegation attended a detailed briefing at the Azerbaijani Navy base. The briefing provided an in-depth overview of the Navy’s organizational structure, operational readiness, and ongoing activities within the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. Additionally, the delegation was apprised of personnel welfare measures, as well as the training, educational programs, and the overall organization of service and combat duties.

As part of the visit, the Pakistani delegation toured one of the Navy’s military units. The visit culminated in a demonstration of exemplary performances by the marine special forces, showcasing the skill and preparedness of Azerbaijani naval personnel.
