Mirziyoyev: Regional unity strengthens through joint projects with Azerbaijan
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlighted the growing cooperation between Central Asian nations and Azerbaijan, emphasising active collaboration across sectors such as trade, transport, and green energy.
His remarks came during a special event held in Turkmenistan, focused on preparations for the upcoming seventh Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State, according to local media, citing the presidential press service.
The gathering reviewed progress in organising the high-level summit, which is set to take place in Tashkent under Uzbekistan’s chairmanship. As part of the preparations, a joint action plan was approved, and consultations have already been held among security and economic institutions.
Additionally, media and youth forums have been launched, with further events planned, including an interparliamentary forum, meetings of defence, trade, and transport ministers, and a series of cultural and humanitarian activities to be conducted before the end of the year.
Mirziyoyev affirmed Uzbekistan’s readiness to advance new proposals aimed at strengthening political dialogue, boosting economic ties, and enhancing regional cooperation. These proposals will cover critical areas such as water resource management, energy, climate change, and cross-border commerce.
The event drew a wide range of regional leaders and dignitaries, including the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan, Adylbek Kasymaliyev, and Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov, along with members of official delegations and civil society representatives.
