The Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, and the Chief of the Naval Staff of Pakistan, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, held discussions in Baku on strengthening bilateral military cooperation, with a particular focus on the importance of joint naval exercises and enhancing professional training for personnel.
According to the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry, the two sides exchanged views on a range of issues of mutual interest, noting that joint exercises play a key role in improving operational coordination and combat readiness between the Azerbaijani and Pakistani armed forces, Caliber.Az reports.
The meeting took place during Admiral Ashraf’s official visit to Azerbaijan. Before the talks, the Pakistani delegation visited the Alley of Shehids in Baku, where they laid wreaths and flowers at the graves of those who died for Azerbaijan’s independence and territorial integrity, as well as at the Eternal Flame monument.
During the meeting at the General Staff headquarters, Colonel General Valiyev welcomed the guests and expressed satisfaction with the continued development of military ties, emphasising the historically close relations between the two nations and the progress made in bilateral defence cooperation.
