Victims testify at Baku Military Court over “Smerch” missile attacks by Armenia
The Baku Military Court continued hearings on August 4 in the case against Armenian nationals accused of serious international crimes committed during the 44-day Patriotic War.
During the proceedings, victim Ingilab Mammadov testified that he and his three children were injured in a missile strike on Mingachevir on October 4, 2020, Caliber.Az reports via Azertag.
“We later found out that it was a ‘Smerch’ missile fired by Armenians,” Mammadov said, adding that their two-story building collapsed during the attack and there were no military facilities nearby.
Another victim, Elchin Baghirov, stated that he, his mother Nabat Baghirova, and his uncle were also injured during the missile attack.
“My uncle lost the ability to work due to the sustained injuries,” Baghirov added, noting the material and moral damage they suffered.
The court is reviewing charges including war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, aggression, terrorism, violations of the laws of war, financing terrorism, and the violent seizure and retention of power.
