Mine threat remains relevant even after wars end, official says

02 September 2026 19:47

The mine threat remains relevant even after wars end, says Rahman Hajiyev, chairman of the Board of Azerbaijan’s Karabakh Revival Fund.

Speaking to reporters ahead of a closed screening of the documentary Deadly Legacy, produced by Beach House Pictures at the Fund's request, he outlined that the film focuses on Azerbaijan's large-scale demining efforts, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

"At the same time, the fate of people affected by mines and, of course, developments related to this problem around the world are among the film's main themes," he added.

Hajiyev noted that, alongside Azerbaijan, the documentary also explores mine-related challenges in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Laos and Colombia.

"We worked very hard with the international team to present Azerbaijan's work in mine action to the public objectively. At the same time, we also addressed the challenges facing our country and the wider world so that this issue does not lose its relevance among international audiences," he stressed.
