Baku, Vilnius focus on regional security, path to sustainable peace

Azerbaijan and Lithuania have discussed regional security, the situation in the South Caucasus and efforts to establish lasting peace and stability in the region, as Baku and Vilnius seek to deepen bilateral cooperation and coordination on international platforms.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Lithuanian counterpart, Kęstutis Budrys, held a telephone conversation, during which they reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and prospects for their further development, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry.

The ministers stressed the importance of maintaining political dialogue and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The sides also emphasized the importance of strengthening their partnership through multilateral platforms.

Budrys briefed Bayramov on Lithuania’s preparations for its upcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2027.

The ministers exchanged views on Lithuania’s priorities during its forthcoming EU presidency, including issues relevant to relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union.

The discussions also covered regional security, developments in the South Caucasus, measures aimed at ensuring sustainable peace and stability, and a range of international issues.
