The assessment further reveals that in 2025 alone, Russia has sustained around 260,000 military casualties in its ongoing conflict with Ukraine. Despite these staggering losses, recent trends indicate a gradual decline in the monthly rate of Russian casualties since March 2025.
Notably, the average daily Russian losses recorded in July 2025 fell to 1,072 personnel—the lowest figure since April 2024—although this remains alarmingly high. British intelligence analysts attribute this modest decrease in casualties to shifts in operational dynamics, despite persistent and intense Russian offensives across the entire front.
A detailed graph accompanying the report illustrates that, following a pronounced reduction in losses during the first half of 2023, the annual casualty figures began to ascend steadily throughout 2024 and into 2025.
