Trump quips about US carrier “taking over” Cuba
President Donald Trump delivered remarks at an event in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he addressed several issues, including a pending deal with Iran, US actions involving a recently seized cargo ship, and relations with Cuba.
During his speech, Trump made a remark about Cuba, suggesting in a joking tone that the United States could quickly assert control over the country using military force.
“We’ll do on the way back from Iran, we’ll have one of our big — maybe the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, the biggest in the world. We’ll have that come in, stop about 100 yards offshore, and they’ll say, thank you very much, we give up,” he said of the Cuban leaders.
The comment was presented as a quip while Trump discussed broader US military capabilities and ongoing geopolitical developments.
