FT: US secretly spent four months clearing mines from Strait of Hormuz

The US Navy spent four months carrying out a secret operation to clear mines from the Strait of Hormuz, the Financial Times (FT) reports, citing people familiar with the matter.

The operation was aimed at ensuring the safe passage of vessels through the strategic waterway. US forces used special operations divers, robotic boats and specialized underwater vehicles for the mission.

At night, small teams of mine-clearance personnel in inflatable boats located mines, attached explosives to them and detonated them.

According to the newspaper, the operation was completed without any casualties among US personnel.
