Poland ready to deploy permanent NATO bases on its territory
Polish Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, has announced the country’s readiness to build permanent NATO military bases in the territory of Poland, including light infantry units.
During his speech at the Strategic Ark conference on May 19 in Warsaw, Morawiecki said Poland was ready to take in mobile units of NATO against possible territorial claims of Russia, according to RBC-Ukraine.
“Permanent bases of Allies [NATO member states] should be established in NATO's eastern flag countries. Poland is ready to build such bases that would be the place of deployment of light units permanently,” he said.
According to him, Poland is concerned about Russia's territorial claims.
"Russia must know that we will not cede an inch of a NATO territory," Morawiecki said.
Meanwhile, the Baltic countries and Poland previously demanded the expansion of NATO's military activities on their territory.
