Revanchist archbishop calls for civil disobedience to throw Armenia in turmoil
Revanchist Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan issued a statement on May 9, urging for peaceful acts of disobedience to commence in Yerevan and across the nation, Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media.
Police presence has intensified in Yerevan's Republic Square.
"I urge students, universities, businessmen who prioritize values beyond money, and all educational institutions to initiate a strike. Without resorting to aggression, just for a few days—two or three at most," he said.
He called on fellow citizens in the regions to return and instigate similar actions there as well.
"This pressure should reverberate throughout the entire nation. The people desire this as the path forward, to startle the state and leave no alternative," the cleric declared.
