Russia appoints new military command for Ukraine war

In the fifth month of Russia's full-scale war in Ukraine, Russian Colonel General Gennady Zhidko will be in charge of military operations.

UNIAN reports citing the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) that Colonel General Gennady Zhidko, head of the Main Military and Political Department of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, is in charge of the so-called "special operation" in Ukraine instead of Colonel General Alexander Dvornikov, commander of the troops of the Southern Military District.

In addition, the institute claims that the Kremlin keeps manipulating Russian law to conduct "secret mobilization" to continue the war in Ukraine without full mobilization.
