FBI warns of elevated threats to Jewish, Israeli communities across US
The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have issued a public service announcement warning of an increased threat to Jewish and Israeli communities in the United States following a series of recent violent incidents.
The announcement, released on June 5, comes in the wake of two alarming attacks: a violent confrontation targeting pro-Israeli demonstrators in Boulder, Colorado, and the shooting of two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington, D.C., last month, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
"We advise security partners to remain vigilant for threats of targeted violence against Jewish and Israeli communities, and their supporters," the message says.
According to US law enforcement and intelligence agencies, these events have raised serious concerns that similar incidents could escalate or inspire further violence against Jewish and Israeli individuals, institutions, or supporters.
The joint advisory from the FBI and DHS urges community leaders, security personnel, and local authorities to implement heightened security measures and maintain a high level of vigilance. Officials warn that ideologically motivated attackers may view Jewish and Israeli targets as symbols of political grievances, making them vulnerable to potential threats.
Federal authorities are closely monitoring developments and working in coordination with local law enforcement agencies to prevent further incidents.
Tensions have intensified in recent weeks following two high-profile attacks targeting Jewish and Israeli individuals in the United States.
On June 1, a suspect allegedly threw Molotov cocktails at a march in Boulder, Colorado, held in support of Israeli hostages. The attack left more than a dozen people injured. Authorities have since charged the suspect with 118 state criminal offenses, including 28 counts of attempted murder.
Earlier, on May 21, two Israeli Embassy employees—Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim—were fatally shot outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. According to police reports, the suspect shouted "Free Palestine" while being taken into custody and now faces charges of first-degree murder.
