Israel police seize MATADOR anti-tank system stolen from IDF

Israel Police have seized weapons, ammunition and explosives in an operation targeting violent crime in Arab communities, the force said.

Police said some of the weapons and ammunition recovered were suspected to have been stolen from the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), Caliber.Az reports, citing Israeli media.

In Taybeh, officers found 6.5kg of explosive material along with equipment needed to detonate it remotely, police said.

In Kafr Kassem, police raided four locations and seized two Glock 19 pistols, a full 9mm magazine and several rifle magazines. Four suspects were arrested.

The operation comes after two people were arrested last week in Shfaram on suspicion of stealing a shoulder-fired MATADOR missile from the IDF during operations in northern Israel.

Police said one of the suspects was an illegal resident. Both suspects were transferred to the Galilee Region police station for questioning, with police seeking to extend their detention in court.
