Russia threatens immediate retaliation if Poland attempts to intercept missiles over Ukraine
Russia will take concrete and immediate measures if Poland tries to shoot down missiles over Ukraine, the director of the Third European Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Oleg Tyapkin, has said.
‘If official Warsaw gives in to an adventurous impulse and decides to make attempts to intercept long-range means of defeat, legally used by our armed forces in order to neutralise military threats emanating to Russia from the territory of Ukraine, the reaction to them will be adequate and quite specific,’ the diplomat noted, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Tyapkin also stressed that the direct involvement of the West in the conflict in Ukraine has great risks for the escalation of the international situation. Moscow has repeatedly reported about this, pointing out the unacceptability of such a policy.
Earlier, it was reported that Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said that the Polish authorities were discussing the possible shooting down of Russian missiles over Ukrainian territory.
