Russia’s Gazprom sets new record for daily gas deliveries to China via Power of Siberia
On December 20, Russia’s Gazprom company set a new all-time record for daily gas supplies to China via the Power of Siberia pipeline for the second time this month.
The supplied volume of gas exceeded Gazprom's contractual obligations. The previous record was set on December 7, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Since December 1, the company has proactively increased daily gas deliveries to China via the Power of Siberia pipeline to the maximum contractual level. Originally, the pipeline was scheduled to reach its design capacity of 38 billion cubic metres of gas starting January 1, 2025.
In October, Deputy Chairman of Gazprom's Management Committee Vitaly Markelov announced that Russian gas supplies through the Power of Siberia pipeline to China would exceed the initial 2024 target by more than 1 billion cubic metres. Considering the increase in exports from the Arctic LNG-2 project and the redirection of some supplies from the European market, analysts predict that the total supply volume in this direction could reach 85 billion cubic metres by 2030.
