Media: Ukrainian drone attack sparks fire at Russian oil refinery
A fire broke out at the Slavyansk ECO oil refinery in Slavyansk following an overnight drone attack by Ukrainian forces.
The attack occurred in the early hours of March 17, and the blaze was brought under control within an hour and a half, ASTRA reports.
While the strike did not result in direct casualties, one refinery employee reportedly died from a suspected heart attack. Local media confirmed that the deceased was a staff member of the plant’s boiler facility.
The Krasnodar operational headquarters characterized the incident as “an attempted terrorist act by the Kyiv regime,” noting that the Slavyansk ECO refinery has been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian forces.
Debris from the drones fell in the city and a nearby gardening cooperative in Slavyansk-on-Kuban, causing injuries to one individual who was hospitalized with a fracture.
