17 March 2026 11:32
Iran’s judiciary chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei has announced strict measures against individuals suspected of espionage or cooperation with foreign states, according to Tasnim News Agency.
Mohseni-Ejei said that authorities have already confiscated and frozen the assets of some suspects. He added that under Iranian law, offences related to espionage can carry penalties up to and including the death penalty.
He warned that anyone deemed to be threatening the security of citizens would face legal prosecution.
The judiciary chief had earlier called for the accelerated and uncompromising handling of cases involving individuals accused of cooperating with hostile actors, amid ongoing attacks by the United States and Israel.
