Georgian Patriarch Ilia II hospitalised, placed on ventilator updated
Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II has been placed on a ventilator, Caliber.Az reports citing Georgian media.
“The stomach bleeding has been stopped. At present, the patient’s hemodynamic parameters are unstable and require attention; he is in the intensive care unit. Doctors are managing the patient’s condition and stabilising the indicators,” said Sofia Aspanidze, director of the Caucasus Medical Center.

Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II has been hospitalised, and his condition is described as problematic, according to foreign media reports, citing the Georgian Patriarchate.
“Due to a sudden deterioration in health, His Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II is currently at the Caucasus Medical Centre. His condition is problematic but stable,” the statement said.
According to the clinic, the Patriarch was admitted with “massive stomach bleeding” and placed in intensive care.
Georgian Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze, who is at the hospital, said the situation is “indeed not simple,” taking into account the Patriarch’s age.
