Russia pushes Telegram blocking to final phase
The blocking of Telegram in Russia has entered its final stage, according to Denis Kuskov, head of Telecom Daily.
Speaking to TASS, Kuskov said: “Indeed, the blocking of Telegram has entered its final stage. Using it without a VPN is pointless. But, as practice and demand for VPNs show, people are not leaving platforms.”
Despite the increasing restrictions, users have not shifted to alternative messaging services, indicating continued reliance on Telegram.
TASS also reported that its analysis of access to the domains t.me and telegram.org from multiple devices showed that, even with stable internet connections in Russia, data packet loss now frequently approaches 100%, typically resulting in timeouts. Both domains share a single IP address.
