Sanctions on Russia's internet resources partially lifted
RIPE Network Coordination Centre (NCC), an international internet registrar, has resumed its services to Russian participants who were subject to sanctions.
This applies only to organisations providing telecommunications services, RBC reports, citing the company's letter.
RIPE NCC is one of the world's five regional Internet registries, headquartered in the Netherlands. The organisation serves 76 countries and has more than 1,500 members in Russia.
The RIPE NCC will remove the "sanctions" notation for some Russian companies in its database, according to the letter, and will start accepting new applications for connections and enter into sponsorship agreements with users who fit the specified exemptions.
According to the RIPE NCC report, since 2021, the registrar has investigated 1,046 cases of sanctions that were imposed against its members. It turned out that 361 of these cases are related to the military conflict in Ukraine, including 115 internet registrar members and 246 end-users.
