The city's officials condemned the surge in violence targeting Israelis and urged all victims to report the incidents to law enforcement officers, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
In a press conference, Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema announced that enhanced security measures would take effect immediately and remain in place throughout the weekend. During this period, authorities declared the entire city a "security risk zone" and imposed a ban on demonstrations.
Chief commissioner of Amsterdam's police Peter Holla stated that preparation for the match had been underway for several weeks, with 800 law enforcement officers involved in securing the event. He also confirmed that investigations are ongoing into reports of hostage-taking during the incident.
At least 10 Israelis were injured in an attack believed to have been carried out by Palestine supporters following a football match between local club Ajax and Tel Aviv’s Maccabi, which took place in Amsterdam as part of the Europa League. Israel’s National Security Council (NSC) urged Israelis visiting Amsterdam to shelter in their hotels. The NSC also advised Israeli citizens who are able to do so to return to the country immediately.
