Ukrainian man faces deportation over live ammunition at Polish arms expo

11 September 2026 17:36

Poland’s Border Guard has moved to deport a Ukrainian national who attempted to enter the International Defence Industry Exhibition in Kielce with a bag containing live ammunition.

The 44-year-old man has been charged with illegal possession of ammunition and has been barred from leaving Poland. His passport remains in the authorities’ possession, RMF24 reports.

The Border Guard commander issued an administrative decision ordering his expulsion on the grounds that he poses a threat to national security. However, the prosecutor’s office decided not to modify the existing preventive measures.

Investigators have yet to establish why the man tried to enter the exhibition grounds carrying ammunition shortly before the event’s official opening, which was attended by government representatives.

Pending further proceedings, the Ukrainian national is expected to be held in a closed detention centre for foreigners until his deportation.
