Brazilian police investigate presidential candidate over money laundering

Brazil’s Federal Police have opened an investigation into presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro, the eldest son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, over allegations including money laundering, tax evasion and corruption, according to Brazilian news outlet G1.

The investigation reportedly centres on the financing of "Dark Horse," a film about Jair Bolsonaro’s political career. The case also involves banker Daniel Vorcaro, who has been linked to a major alleged fraud scheme.

The investigation was launched in July.

Flávio Bolsonaro, a senator and prominent figure in Brazil’s conservative political movement, is campaigning for the presidency in the upcoming election. Brazil is scheduled to hold the first round of voting on October 4.

The allegations remain under investigation, and no findings of wrongdoing have been established against Bolsonaro in connection with the case.
