US strengthening military presence in Middle East amid Iranian threats
The US has decided to temporarily deploy a squadron of F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets to Jordan amid concerns over a potential Iranian missile strike on Israel.
Meanwhile, at least 12 fighter jets are being sent to Jordan, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
US military officials have not made any official statements regarding the deployment of the aircraft. Earlier this month, the Pentagon announced an increase in its military presence in the Middle East. This included the deployment of missile defence destroyers, a squadron of fighter jets, a refueling aircraft, and several US B-52 bombers.
The US is strengthening its position in the region in anticipation of possible Iranian retaliatory missile strikes on Israel, which could come as a response to Israeli missile attacks on Iran, which, in turn, were retaliation for an earlier Iranian strike. According to reports from various media outlets, Tehran may carry out its counterstrike later this week.
