EU vows strong support for Ukraine’s peace process, reconstruction
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a telephone conversation to address recent developments concerning Ukraine’s ongoing conflict and its prospects.
According to an official statement on X, von der Leyen emphasised the progress made in discussions regarding a negotiated peace settlement and Ukraine’s aspirations for European Union membership, Caliber.Az reports.
“We discussed the next steps on the way towards a negotiated peace agreement and Ukraine’s future membership in the European Union, as well as its reconstruction,” she said.
Highlighting the European Union’s unwavering commitment, von der Leyen added,
“Europe’s position is clear. We fully support Ukraine. We will continue to play an active role to guarantee a just and lasting peace.”
