Ukraine suspends air communication agreement with Iran
Ukraine has suspended its air communication agreement with Iran, Taras Melnychuk, a representative of Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada, posted on Telegram.
"The air communication agreement between the governments of Ukraine and the Islamic Republic of Iran has been suspended," Melnychuk announced, Caliber.Az reports citing Ukrainian media.
He clarified that the agreement, originally signed on July 9, 1993, in Tehran, had been terminated as part of the latest decision by Ukraine’s government.
Iran is a key ally of Russia in its ongoing war against Ukraine. Tehran has supplied Russia with significant military aid, including Shahed kamikaze drones, which are frequently used by Russian forces to attack Ukrainian civilians.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also raised concerns that Iran is in "intensive negotiations" with Russia about transferring ballistic missiles, further deepening the ties between the two nations.
