EU to help Ukraine purchase drones, ammunition, von der Leyen says

The European Commission will help Ukraine purchase drones and ammunition, says EC President Ursula von der Leyen.

Sharing a post on X, she stated that the Commission has already approved an additional €6.1 billion for Ukraine to purchase air and missile defence systems and electronic warfare equipment, Caliber.Az reports.

“Today, we have approved €6.1 billion to help Ukraine procure air defence systems, missiles, drones and electronic warfare systems. With this approval, Ukraine can purchase the Patriot equipment it needs to protect its skies from Russia's attacks. Together with our Member States and NATO, we will continue to deliver for Ukraine. So that Ukraine prevails. So that it wins the just and lasting peace it deserves,” she wrote.

With this approval, Ukraine can purchase the Patriot equipment it needs to protect its skies from Russia's attacks.

The funding will, in particular, be used by Kyiv to purchase PAC-3 interceptor missiles for Patriot systems.

Before the funds are disbursed, the EC will verify that the contracts comply with the terms of the Ukraine loan and the agreements reached with EU member states.
