Senior Azerbaijani religious leader to attend Turkic states council in Kyrgyzstan
The Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, will travel to Kyrgyzstan on September 10.
Pashazade is scheduled to attend and deliver a speech at the upcoming meeting of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Administrations of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS), which will be held in Bishkek on September 11, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
At the Council’s last gathering in October 2022 in Shusha, Azerbaijan, members signed the Council’s Statute and adopted a Joint Declaration.
In Bishkek, participants are expected to endorse a document entitled “Unity of the Ummah in Islam”. The subsequent meeting of the Council will take place in Azerbaijan.
The 6th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) is scheduled for September 11, 2025, in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
Hosted by the Religious Administration of Kyrgyzstan, the meeting follows the chairmanship transfer from Kazakhstan, as decided at the 5th Meeting in Astana on October 3, 2024.
The council will focus on enhancing religious cooperation among Turkic states, discussing the Fatwa Committee's guidelines and the resolution "Islam Supports the Traditions of Local People." Attendees will include religious leaders from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan.
The meeting aims to strengthen solidarity and address regional challenges through shared Islamic values, continuing the OTS’s mission to foster cooperation among Turkic peoples.
