Speaker: Armenia never declared its withdrawal from CSTO
Armenia has never announced its withdrawal from the [Collective Security Treaty Organisation] CSTO, but Yerevan is concerned about the organisation's attitude towards the republic.
Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan made the statement during a joint meeting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and the 15th plenary session of the CSTO PA, Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media.
"We have never made statements about leaving the CSTO, we have said that the CSTO is leaving the region, we are very concerned about this. It seems that the territory of Armenia does not have equal strategic importance for the CSTO, while close attention is paid to the Eastern European region and Central Asia," Simonyan said.
The meeting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and the XV plenary session of the CSTO PA takes place in the Column Hall of the House of Unions on December 5.
The previous meeting of the CSTO PA was held in June this year in Yerevan. The CSTO includes Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
