Turkish Customs seize over 1.3 million Captagon pills in major drug bust
Turkish Customs authorities have seized over 1.3 million Captagon pills and 26,520 mixer parts in separate operations at the Ambarlı port and the Oncupınar border crossing, according to the country's Ministry of Trade.
The operation at Ambarlı port uncovered 26,520 mixer parts in 12 containers, which were being smuggled into Türkiye without paying customs duties, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
The total value of the seized items amounted to approximately 120.5 million Turkish liras (over $3.5 million).
In a second operation at the Oncupınar customs checkpoint, authorities discovered 1.38 million Captagon pills, hidden in a truck that had arrived from Syria. The truck, which was originally said to be transporting beans, was found to be carrying drugs worth around 276 million liras (over $8 million).
Captagon is a narcotic psychostimulant drug containing fenethylline, widely associated with illicit trafficking in the region. The Turkish authorities have not disclosed any arrests linked to the seizures.
