Iran names 77 vessels violating rules of navigation via Strait of Hormuz

Iran’s Persian Gulf Strait Authority has released an updated list of 77 vessels it accuses of breaching Iranian protocols governing navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

The authority warned that the vessels on the list could face restrictions on future passage, including fines, detention or confiscation, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iran International.

It said vessels cooperating with any of those listed would themselves be added to the list, while maritime service providers were warned against providing assistance to them.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his counterparts from Arab countries in the region are expected to meet in Oman’s capital to discuss a framework agreement on passage through the Strait of Hormuz and maritime navigation.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran had already held talks with Oman and reached an agreement on specific arrangements for maritime navigation.
