Kazakhstan plans to amend a legal assistance treaty signed with Türkiye in 1995, according to Kazakh media.

“The Treaty between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Türkiye on Legal Assistance in Civil Matters establishes the procedure and conditions for providing mutual legal assistance in civil and criminal cases, and is also aimed at protecting the rights of individuals and legal entities established in the territory of each party.

In order to notify the Republic of Türkiye through diplomatic channels of the designated central authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, their functions and contact details, a draft protocol amending the treaty has been prepared, along with a draft law of the Republic of Kazakhstan for its entry into force,” the explanatory note to the draft government resolution states.

The stated purpose of the initiative is to submit to the Kurultai a draft law titled “On Ratification of the Protocol Amending the Treaty between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Türkiye on Legal Assistance in Civil Matters of June 13, 1995.”
