Syrian-Italian economic dialogue advances in Damascus meeting
Syria and Italy have held talks aimed at strengthening economic and trade cooperation and exploring ways to build strategic partnerships to expand bilateral relations, Syrian media reported.
The discussions took place between Alaa Omar al-Ali, president of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, and Italy’s ambassador to Damascus, Stefano Ravagnan.
The meeting was held on February 4 at the headquarters of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce in Damascus. Both sides highlighted the importance of establishing a Syrian-Italian Business Council and developing economic ties that reflect the ambitions of both countries.
They also confirmed the Federation’s participation in the Arab-Italian Economic Forum, which is set to be held in Milan on March 31, 2026.
In addition, the two sides reviewed opportunities for cooperation in vocational education tailored to labour market demands, which they said would support economic recovery efforts and help increase exports.
