Western Azerbaijanis will return peacefully, with dignity, official says

Western Azerbaijanis will return to their ancestral lands in a peaceful, safe, and dignified manner, Zahid Jafarov, a Board Member and Chairman of the Legal Commission of the Western Azerbaijan Community, has stated.

Speaking at an event titled Return to Western Azerbaijan: Restoration of Historical Justice and Human Rights, he said Armenia's actions toward Western Azerbaijanis across different periods should be considered genocide, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

According to him, the policy was rooted in ethnic animosity and sought to eradicate an entire people and the concept of genocide includes both physical and moral destruction.

“In many cases, moral destruction can be even more dangerous than physical destruction. Armenia's policy toward Western Azerbaijanis during various periods was based on ethnic hostility. Returning to Western Azerbaijan is our right. We will return to Western Azerbaijan in a peaceful, safe, and dignified manner," Jafarov noted.
