The Netherlands to provide Ukraine with missiles for F-16s
Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans has announced that the Netherlands will provide Ukraine with air-to-air missiles for its F-16 fighter jets, along with spare parts and various equipment totaling 80 million euros.
He made these remarks at a meeting of the Contact Group on Military Assistance to Ukraine at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
"F-16s require support and spare parts for maintenance. Therefore, the Netherlands will supply various equipment and supplies worth 80 million euros. The aid package includes a significant volume of spare parts, generators, small vehicles, essential maintenance materials, specialised tools, and ladders," Brekelmans stated. "With these air-to-air missiles, Ukraine will be able to intercept and neutralise enemy aircraft in the sky," the minister added.
The minister did not disclose a specific volume for security reasons and did not clarify the timelines, stating only that the weaponry and equipment will be sent to Ukraine "as soon as possible."
The Netherlands plays a key role in the coalition supplying F-16s to Ukraine and training military pilots. The country plans to deliver 24 fighter jets to Kyiv and additional 18 fighter jets for a training centre in Romania. According to The Times, Ukraine has already received six F-16s from the Netherlands.
