Türkiye welcomes progress on peace treaty between Azerbaijan, Armenia
Türkiye has expressed its strong support for the agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia regarding the draft of a long-anticipated peace treaty, marking a key milestone in efforts to normalize relations between the two nations.
The endorsement came through the final communiqué of the Turkish National Security Council (MGK), which convened under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The statement from the MGK emphasized Ankara’s satisfaction with the development and underscored Türkiye’s continued commitment to fostering stability and reconciliation in the region.
It reaffirmed Türkiye’s expectation that all necessary conditions be met to secure lasting peace in the South Caucasus.
Ankara has consistently advocated for a negotiated resolution that respects the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and opens new opportunities for regional connectivity and economic integration.
