British ambassador publishes New Year greeting in Azerbaijani VIDEO
The British Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Fergus Auld, has released a New Year video message in Azerbaijani, highlighting key milestones in bilateral relations between the UK and Azerbaijan over 2025.
In his message, shared on Instagram, Ambassador Auld noted that this would be his final New Year greeting as the UK’s envoy to Azerbaijan.
“The main event of the [2025] year was the decision by Minister of State Stephen Doughty and President Ilham Aliyev to elevate our relations to a new level through the signing of a Strategic Partnership Agreement. In December, Minister of Defence Lord Vernon Coaker and the UK Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan and Central Asia, House of Lords member John Alderdice, held bilateral meetings focused on defence and security, trade and investment, as well as education and innovation,” the ambassador said.
He also highlighted that in 2025 he visited Lachin and the city of Shusha, calling the trip “unparalleled.”
“The strategic partnership we have built is not only about formal agreements between governments. It is also about business that drives growth, the unique experiences of Azerbaijani students in British universities, and new friendships between our cultures. I look forward to what the new year will bring,” the diplomat added.
