Azerbaijan, United States discuss strengthening military cooperation

Azerbaijan and the United States held discussions on enhancing bilateral military cooperation during a meeting in Baku on January 4.

Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, met with U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, along with other members of the U.S. House of Representatives who are visiting Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry.

During the meeting at the Ministry of Defense, Colonel General Hasanov expressed satisfaction with the current level of Azerbaijan–U.S. relations, noting that these ties are of particular importance to both countries. He highlighted the positive dynamics in cooperation and the mutual interest in further developing bilateral engagement.

Senator Mullin, in turn, stressed that reciprocal visits and meetings in various formats play an effective role in expanding relations between the two countries and deepening mutual understanding.

The meeting focused on the current state of cooperation, new opportunities, and prospects for further development of Azerbaijan–U.S. ties in the military, military-technical, and military education spheres. The sides also held an extensive exchange of views on a range of other issues of mutual interest.
