Russian media highlight Azerbaijani president's vision for regional connectivity, sovereignty PHOTO
Leading Russian media outlets have highlighted key statements from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev following his recent interview with local television channels.
As Caliber.Az reports via state media, agencies including RIA Novosti, TASS, Vesti Kavkaza, Interfax, and 360 TV cited Aliyev’s assertion that “the people of Azerbaijan have no doubt that the Zangezur Corridor will be opened.”
The reports also underscored his claim that Azerbaijan is the only reliable link between Central Asia and the West, noting that alternative transit routes bypassing the country are ineffective and fail to attract interest.
Media coverage emphasized Aliyev’s confidence in further expanding Azerbaijan’s transit capabilities and highlighted his focus on developing transport infrastructure to strengthen economic ties across Europe and Asia.
Russian outlets also drew attention to Aliyev’s remarks on regional foreign policy challenges, the importance of safeguarding national sovereignty and security, and his call for the full repeal of the US Section 907. The interviews reportedly included his positions on key bilateral relations and regional initiatives.
Overall, Russian media portray Azerbaijan as a strategic actor in regional and international affairs, presenting President Aliyev’s statements as reflective of a consistent, independent, and proactive foreign policy pursued by the government in Baku.
