Boy, 11, stabbed at Berlin primary school – attacker at large
An 11-year-old boy was seriously injured in a knife attack at a primary school in Berlin on Wednesday, prompting a large-scale emergency response and a manhunt for the suspect, who is believed to be a fellow pupil.
Emergency services were called to the Weinmeisterhorn Primary School in Berlin-Spandau shortly after 11:30 am, Caliber.Az reports, citing German media.
Police and firefighters arrived at the scene following reports of a violent incident involving two students.
According to police, the injured boy was taken to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery. He is now in a stable condition.
The attack is believed to have taken place during the fourth lesson, inside the changing room of the school’s sports hall. Witnesses told BILD that a dispute broke out between the victim and the alleged perpetrator, who are both in the same Year 6 class. The situation escalated, resulting in the boy being stabbed.
Moments later, the victim reportedly ran from the changing room, covered in blood and clutching his neck. The attacker is said to have fled shortly afterwards, throwing his schoolbag onto the playground before escaping the school grounds.
Police confirmed they are aware of the suspect’s identity, and a search is currently underway.
