Czech MFA summons Iran’s envoy over threats to Radio Farda

Czech Foreign Ministry has summoned Iran’s ambassador after Tehran accused Persian-language broadcaster Radio Farda, which is funded by the United States and based in the Czech capital, of working for the US and Israel, the Czech News Agency (CTK) reports, citing Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka.

According to the report, Iranian Armed Forces spokesman Abolfazl Shekarchi accused several media outlets and said they could be added to Iran’s list of targets.

“Iran’s ambassador has been summoned to the Czech Foreign Ministry over the threats made against Radio Farda. According to Macinka, the meeting is expected to take place as soon as possible at the level of the director of the Middle East Department,” the report noted.

Radio Farda operates under US-based media organisation Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL), which is headquartered in the Czech capital.
