Theatre season coming to a close in Garabagh Armenians waiting for inevitable

23 August 2023 17:12

Following the diplomatic debacle at the UN Security Council meeting, there is a noticeable dispersal and shaking in the Armenian camp, especially within its touring Garabagh branch. The leader of the unsuccessful separatists in his fourth year, Arayik Harutyunyan, has declared his resignation, but has not kept his word, reinforcing the feeling of precariousness and unreliability among Garabagh Armenians about the illegal formation.

When talking about Vardanyan, the talking carcass with hopelessness in his eyes, continues to give interviews to various media by inertia, going on about "hunger" and "genocide", and calls Arayik to leave his "post", accusing him of collaboration. Samvel Babayan also criticizes Arayik for not taking on a sufficiently energetic progress towards reintegration. A certain Karen Matevosyan, who introduced himself as the commander of the "Artsakh" militia, recorded a video message to the people, essentially giving an ultimatum to the junta: if they don't convene a council in two days to take a fateful decision for the people, his "guys" will dissolve the parliament. That is, to start a "coup". A very strange warning. The condition is given to the whole gang, yet only the "parliament" is going to dissolve. Everything, however, falls into place when you learn that Matevosyan enjoys a friendly relationship with both Arayik and Babayan. Considering that both are among those who are inclined to accept reintegration, perhaps the appearance of a "militia" on the stage is an attempt by Harutyunyan to form a shield against the actions of other armed groups controlled, for example, by Vardanyan.

According to Matevosyan, a meeting of "Artsakh" was supposed to take place on August 22, during which it was supposed to make a decision. Former fighter Matevosyan also criticized the "ex-leaders", Saakyan and Gukasyan, accusing them of corruption, yet he then proceeded to immediately "forgive" them, probably frightened by their small but bloody revenge. He put them into a group of "businessmen" together with Vardanyan and called for unity. This is the voice of the people calling to forget the resentments and unite against the background of the common misfortune. He has already been named the "Armenian Prigozhin" by the Armenian side.

Arayik did eventually convene a meeting on August 22, at which, according to unconfirmed reports, he pointed to the possibility of partially using the Aghdam road. No declaration was made at the time. However, 24 hours have passed, and so far there has been no new statement by Matevosyan, not to mention a storming of the "parliament".

The proletarian theatre is facing bad times. Meanwhile, a criminal case has been opened in Baku.

Unofficial Armenian sources report that Harutyunyan has no intention of leaving, and now the issue of importing food through Aghdam is on the agenda of the self-proclaimed authorities. According to the Armenian media, a team has been formed under the local "government", which is going to meet with the Azerbaijani side in the coming days, tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. The meeting will most likely take place in Barda.

There is no doubt that it is only a matter of time before the supply of Khankandi leads through Aghdam. Incidentally, there is every reason to assume that the Azerbaijani Red Crescent Organization will carry out the transport. Not Cross, but the Crescent.

Simultaneously, the exodus of Armenians from Garabagh has intensified. They are primarily holders of the Russian passports. This fact puts a bold damper on the speculation that the Armenian community of Garabagh could become a part of the Russian Federation, which, incidentally, is still being broadcasted as an option for the "future of Artsakh" by the living target, Vardanyan. Men of military age are also seen among the departing, which may indicate a gradual meltdown of the "defense army". However, those who remain take it upon themselves to frequently shoot at Azerbaijani positions.

Shelling at the conditional border has also increased. As far as the border is concerned, it seems like the Armenians are putting all their bet on Baku responding by opening fire, which the EU mission would then record and accuse Azerbaijan of provocation, an aggressive policy, that would lead the way to mayhem with condemnations and sanctions following...

In Garabagh itself, the criminals who have been cornered, also seem to be trying to call on the Azerbaijani side to respond in order to provoke the death of the civilian population. If this happens, they will raise the issue of the security of the Armenians of Garabagh, and the anti-Azerbaijani hysteria will flare up again. The option regarding a"blockade and famine" did not hold, and now the Armenians are actively searching for a new "Article" for the promotion of their narrative, namely the impossibility of living together Azerbaijanis and Armenians.

Meanwhile, Baku has not yet undertaken a large-scale operation against Armenian military formations in Garabagh, obviously concentrating on the logistics of transport through Aghdam to Khankandi. The brightest Armenians are beginning to realize that the special operation has long begun and involves different methods. A scenario in which armed gangs, sympathetic to different forces, start shooting at each other should also not be excluded.

However, this does not mean that the Iron Fist has turned into an open palm.
