Trump claims US airstrikes stopped Iran from getting nuclear weapons in four weeks
U.S. President Donald Trump said Tehran would have been able to develop a nuclear weapon within four weeks if not for American airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
The president made the remarks in an interview with U.S. journalist Mark Levin, in which he commented on the June strikes against Iranian nuclear sites, Caliber.Az reports per U.S. media.
He asserted that Iran would have used the weapon had it succeeded in acquiring it.
Trump also described both himself and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as war heroes.
“He’s a war hero, cause we worked together. He’s a war hero. I guess I am, too,” Trump said.
“Nobody cares. I am too. I sent those planes.”
The president also expressed frustration during the interview that he had not received sufficient recognition for directing the strikes or for his other, more recent efforts to reduce global tensions.
On June 21, 2025, President Donald Trump authorised U.S. airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—declaring them “totally obliterated.” He hailed the operation as a “spectacular military success” and warned of further action if Iran does not pursue peace with Israel.
The strikes, carried out in coordination with Israel, represented a major intensification of tensions in the Middle East.
Iran condemned the attacks as a violation of international law and vowed retaliation, including missile strikes on Israeli cities. The International Atomic Energy Agency reported no radiation leaks from the targeted sites.
Domestically, the move has sparked bipartisan debate in Congress, with some lawmakers questioning the constitutional authority for such military action.
