Türkiye reportedly destroys about 100 PKK targets in northern Syria
Turkish Armed Forces have destroyed about 100 objects of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) banned by Ankara during an operation in northern Syria.
In this connection, over 70 Kurdish militants were eliminated, TRT Haber reports.
On October 7, the Turkish Defence Ministry reported the elimination of 58 terrorists. The military department has not yet released a new report.
The Turkish Air Force conducted an operation in northern Syria on the evening of October 6, the target of which was the targets of the PKK and its Syrian wing, the People’s Self-Defense Forces. Some 30 combat aircraft were involved in the raid. The operation was carried out to a depth of 40-50 km, attacks were carried out on militant bases, oil wells and oil depots owned by the PKK in the Tel Rifaat, Cizire and Derik areas.
Türkiye has been conducting air operations in northern Syria and Iraq following the PKK's attempted terrorist attack on the Interior Ministry headquarters in Ankara on October 1. Ankara says it is acting on the basis of the right to self-defence stemming from Article 51 of the UN Charter.
In addition, Türkiye calls the PKK the main threat to national security. The Turkish army periodically conducts operations against Kurdish militants in Iraq and Syria and maintains a large group of troops in the region.
