Russia, Iran explore Syria crisis, strengthen bilateral cooperation
Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian, focusing primarily on the ongoing crisis in Syria.
The discussion centered on the escalating situation in the Syrian Arab Republic, with particular attention given to the large-scale aggression by terrorist groups and militias, Caliber.Az reports citing the Kremlin.
The two leaders acknowledged that these actions were aimed at destabilizing Syria's sovereignty, political system, and socio-economic stability.
The Kremlin's report emphasized Russia's unwavering support for the Syrian government's efforts to restore constitutional order and territorial integrity. The importance of continued coordination within the Astana process, which includes Türkiye, was also highlighted.
Additionally, a plan for further engagement between the two presidents and at other levels was outlined.
The leaders also discussed key issues regarding the development of Russian-Iranian cooperation across various sectors, taking into account the agreements made during their previous talks in Kazan on October 23.
