Georgian president receives newly appointed envoy to Azerbaijan

Georgian President Mikhail Kavelashvili received Giorgi Zakarashvili, who has been appointed Georgia’s ambassador to Azerbaijan, the Georgian President’s Office said.

The meeting focused on the strategic partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan and prospects for further strengthening bilateral relations, according to the statement.

“The focus was on the long-standing friendly relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan, as well as on the role of the two countries in promoting peace, stability and economic development in the region,” the statement said.

Kavelashvili congratulated Zakarashvili on the start of his diplomatic mission and wished him success in his future work, the President’s Office said.
