Russia keeps close watch on US space activities—official

Moscow has not received any notification from Washington regarding the deployment of US weapons in near-Earth orbit, but American activities in space are being closely monitored by Russia, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said.

Ryabkov made the remarks at a briefing following the BRICS summit, referring to recent comments by US Secretary of the Air Force Troy Meink, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

“There was no corresponding notification,” Ryabkov said. “In this case, we are talking about a statement made by the US Secretary of the Air Force [Troy Meink]. This is not news to us. All of this is being monitored and recorded, and appropriate conclusions are being drawn.”
